confident smile

The other day, as I was thinking about this post in the car, I tried to smile sincerely without showing my teeth. Now, some people may be able to do it, but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t. (If you were on the road that day and saw me smiling at myself in the mirror, now you know why!)

Although my teeth are no longer as perfectly straight as they were in the years after I had braces, I still feel pretty confident in showing them to the world when I smile, and being able to offer a sincere smile allows me to connect with strangers wherever we go. (Despite being an introvert, I really do love to smile and chat with someone for just a minute…hopefully brightening their day in the process!)

This giveaway is now closed! The winner is Danyelle (danyellehutton@…)! As a kid, I loved our elastic wrap bandages. Any time I twisted my ankle or fell down, I’d ask my dad to wrap it up with a bandage and secure it with the little metal clips (assuming we could find them!). Turns out my [...]

Throughout my junior high and high school years, people would always comment on my smile. After years of braces, I had pretty much perfect teeth, and people noticed. Unfortunately, over the years my teeth and jaw have somewhat shifted back to their natural state, and I’m really disappointed to once again have an overbite and [...]

The picture above is my grandparents in 2005 with our oldest daughter. My grandmother passed away two years ago from cancer, and I miss her [...]

February is Heart Health Month. That hits especially close to home in the days following Sean’s grandfather’s heart attack and surgery to get a pacemaker, as I’m sure you can imagine. Unfortunately, heart problems don’t just run on Sean’s side of the family. My grandfather also had several heart attacks and multiple bypass surgeries (I [...]

This post brought to you by Zenni Optical. All opinions are 100% mine. Our family has been buying our glasses from Zenni Optical for several years now. Last month, Heidi emailed and described a scenario that you may be familiar with: All three of her kids were sick, and she wasn’t feeling all that great herself. As she dealt with symptoms and medication, she was having trouble keeping track of days and times and dosages, something she does easily when there’s just [...]
